Eat, Drink and Be Merry!
Did you know it’s highly likely that much of the food you’ll eat over the festive season will have been subjected to x-ray inspection?
As well as providing exceptional contamination detection, modern food x-ray inspection systems are multi-tasking quality assurance systems capable of ensuring products consistently meet consumers’ expectations by performing the following product integrity checks:
- Measuring product mass
- Counting components
- Identifying missing or broken products
- Monitoring fill levels
- Inspecting seal integrity, and
- Checking for damaged packaging
Take a box of mince pies, for example, in addition to providing reliable detection of a wide range of dense, physical contaminants, including metal, glass and mineral stone, x-ray systems are simultaneously used to measure gross and zoned mass, as well as detect any missing and underfilled pies.
By identifying substandard and non-conforming boxes of pies before they leave the factory, x-ray systems play a crucial role in helping manufacturers protect the welfare of consumers and safeguard their brand reputations by minimising the risk of product recalls.
Now surely that’s worth raising a glass of mulled wine to!
